DVXP TEdit.NET Documentation |
DVXP TEdit.NET 3.0 is an ASP.NET server grid control that is ideal for
building data table viewing and editing web pages in minutes.
TEdit.NET has a large number of unique features over database programming
with the standard data controls of ASP.NET, such as:
For a list of what's new in version 3.0, see the release notes.
TEdit.NET consists of a single assembly, named DVXP.DXTableEditor.dll. To use the TEdit.NET control, the only required step is to simply reference the assembly from your Visual Studio.NET project. Or, if you do not use Visual Studio.NET, create a folder named bin below your site's virtual directory and place the DLL in there. For a full overview of creating a TEdit.NET based application, see the getting started guide.
The .NET runtime version 1.1 must be installed on the web server. You can use both Visual Studio 2002 (with .net 1.1 installed) and Visual Studio 2003. The sample projects are targeted at Visual Studio 2003.
Users of version 2 can upgrade to version 3 by just replacing the DVXP.DXTableEditor.dll file that is referenced in their projects.
A sample project is provided that demonstrates the features of TEdit.NET. You can access the samples at your local machine at http://localhost/TEditNorthwind. This site is automatically created by the TEdit.NET setup program. The sample files can be found at C:\Program Files\DVXP\TEdit.NET 3.0\TEditNorthwind.
Note that it might be necessary to update the connection string in the web.config file for your SQL Server, MSDE or MSAccess Northwind database configuration.
You can also run the samples online and browse the source code at www.tedit.net/samples.aspx.
TEdit.NET comes with a fully functional sample application called DXTrack, a bug tracking system. You can find installation instructions it here, or access it online.
You are welcome to use the evaluation version for 30 days without any charge, for evaluation and development purposes only. If you continue to use the software afterwards, you have to purchase a license. For development and testing purposes only, a copy of a server license may be installed on development PCs.
The only difference between the evaluation and the purchased version is that the evaluation version displays a reminder text and expires after 30 days. We encourage you to buy the software and support its further development.
The evaluation version may be freely distributed, provided the distribution package is not modified. No person or company may charge a fee for the distribution without written permission.
The SOFTWARE may be installed for development and testing purposes on any number of servers. For production purposes, a license must be obtained for each server (that is, for each operating system instance) that is running the SOFTWARE. For instance, if the SOFTWARE is installed on 7 different servers, a license must be purchased for each server.
The SOFTWARE is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as by other intellectual property laws and treaties. You may make copies of the SOFTWARE solely for backup or archival purposes. You may not rent or lease the SOFTWARE or copy any written materials accompanying the SOFTWARE, but you may transfer the SOFTWARE on a permanent basis, if you retain no copies and the recipient agrees to the terms. Any transfer must include the most recent update and all prior versions. Further you may not use, copy, emulate, clone, modify, translate, rent, lease, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the SOFTWARE except as described in this license; any such unauthorized use shall result in immediate and automatic termination of this license. All rights of any kind in the SOFTWARE which are not expressly granted in this license are entirely and exclusively reserved to and by the AUTHOR.
The SOFTWARE is distributed "as is" and with no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. You expressly acknowledge and agree that the use of the SOFTWARE is at your own risk. The AUTHOR does not warrant that the functions of the SOFTWARE will meet your requirements or that the SOFTWARE will be error-free.
